IDO MASTERCLASS BY MICHAEL GLENNEY

Michael Glenney from IDO Canada will be conducting an IDO Master Class, a project led by the IDO Education and IDO PR Departments.

Michael will be teaching a Tap master class and will feature this forthcoming Wednesday 27th May at 12.30pm on IDO Facebook. Mike started dancing at the age of 6 and realized his love of the art shortly thereafter. Throughout his career, Mike has trained intensively in tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, ballet and partnering as well as performing in musical theatre and modern.

Mike was the was World Tap Dance Champion in the “Battle of the Feet” in both 2016 and 2018 before going on to judge the event in 2019. Along with his title wins, he has won a total of 12 medals in his appearances at the World Tap Dance Championships in Germany before being asked to return to teach master classes and judge at the event. Mike was a founding member of Everett Smith’s tap company “Bringing Tap Back” and has performed with Shawn Byfield’s “Funk Factory”, and Suzy Guarino-Hall’s “Tap 24.7”, in additional to creating work for the “Detroit Tap Repertory”.

Mike began teaching dance in 2009. He then went on to spend two years dancing aboard the Disney Dream and Fantasy cruise ships, before returning home to reignite his teaching career. Most recently Mike has become a choreographer for the Canadian National Tap Team. He is also proud to have worked as a trainer and choreographer for the “German National Dance Teams, and Italian National Tap Team, whose members have competed Mike’s choreography at the European, and World Dance Championships.

Mike is proud to have become sought after performer, instructor, choreographer, and adjudicator throughout Canada and beyond. Mike cherishes his time spent encouraging and inspiring his students and imbuing them with the same love of dance and performance that has him shuffling down the street.

Classes will air on IDO Facebook from 12.30pm on Wednesday 27th May until 11.30am CET on Thursday 28th May 2020.
