World Tap Dance Championships 2025 — Prague Welcomes the World
From October 22–26, 2025, the rhythm of tap will once again fill the UNYP Arena as Prague hosts the IDO World Tap Dance Championships 2025.
More than 1,690 dancers from 21 countries across five continents will present around 600 original choreographies created specially for this event.
Following the strong success of the 2024 edition, this year’s championship brings an even broader international presence, welcoming newcomers Hong Kong and New Zealand, and the return of Hungary to the tap stage.
Precision, Energy, and Connection
The event has earned its reputation for excellent coordination, clear communication, and an atmosphere that makes every participant feel part of something united and meaningful.
“Enjoy every moment in Prague,” says Natália Sincova, one of the main organizers.
“Support each other and lift up the younger dancers. This week is about giving your best and sharing the energy that defines our community.”
Voices Behind the Event
As co-organizer and moderator, Tomáš Slavíček adds:
“Hosting 21 countries from 5 continents, presenting around 600 choreographies created exclusively for our event — this is beyond my expectations, not only as a moderator but also as a choreographer who loves being inspired by his tap friends. It’s truly something I always dreamed of.”
And, with his characteristic sense of humor:
“The more you smile on TapáCzech, the happier the moderator gets!”
Together with Monika Jeník Backovská, the organizing team continues to build an event recognized for its professionalism, human approach, and care for every detail — from communication with teams to the quality of sound on stage.
The Sound of Tap in Prague
The championship’s main focus remains on the technical and musical quality of tap — ensuring that each step, rhythm, and beat is clearly heard and perfectly balanced.
The TapáCzech mascot returns once again to bring smiles to dancers and the audience, while one of the highlights will be Bill Fowler’s “Battle of the Feet”, this year introducing a €1,000 prize for both male and female winners, supported by the United States Dance & Sport Competition Federation.
A Global Meeting Point for Tap Dance
Prague’s artistic energy and cultural heritage make it an ideal home for this event, bringing together dancers, coaches, and fans who share the same rhythm and respect for this dance form.
With a strong lineup, excellent conditions, and organizers fully dedicated to every detail, the IDO World Tap Dance Championships 2025 promise another outstanding week in the world of tap.
