World Street Dance Show Championships 2026 Open with an Electrifying First Day

The IDO World Street Dance Show Championships 2026 officially got underway today in Medvode, Slovenia, bringing together the world's best Street Dance Show performers for an unforgettable opening day filled with creativity, energy and world-class performances.

Following the successful conclusion of the IDO European Show Dance Championships, the spotlight now turned to Street Dance Show, where urban dance culture meets theatrical storytelling, powerful choreography and outstanding stage presence. From the very first performance, dancers captivated the audience with explosive energy, precision and originality, setting an exceptional standard for the championship.

The opening ceremony welcomed athletes, coaches and officials from 16 countries, celebrating the diversity and unity of the international dance community. Participants were welcomed by Jadran Živković, President of Plesna Zveza Slovenije, Martina Gojkošek, Head of Corporate PR at the Slovenian Tourist Board, and Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdić, President of the International Dance Organization (IDO), who officially welcomed the competitors and wished every athlete a successful and memorable championship.

Throughout the day, the championship featured an exciting programme of Children Solo Female and Male, Juniors 1 and Juniors 2 Duos, Adults Solo Female and Male, Children Groups, Junior Formations and Adult Groups, showcasing the full spectrum of Street Dance Show. Spectators enjoyed performances that combined powerful movement, musicality, creativity and theatrical concepts, highlighting the discipline's unique ability to merge urban dance styles with stage production.

From the youngest competitors to experienced adult dancers, every performance reflected months of dedication, passion and artistic vision. The first world champions of the week were crowned, while the audience created an outstanding atmosphere that celebrated not only success on stage but also friendship, respect and the international spirit of the IDO family.

The championship continues tomorrow with another exciting day of competition as dancers from around the world continue their quest for the prestigious title of IDO World Champion.
