World Fair Play Day 2023

On September 7th, we join the global sports community in celebrating World Fair Play Day. It's a day dedicated to promoting the values of fair play, sportsmanship, and ethics in sports, both on and off the field. The ceremony to celebrate World Fair Play Day 2023 was held on Thursday 7th September in Brussels, Belgium.

The event was honoured by the presence of a very special guest: Berit Reiss-Andersen, President of the Norwegian Committee for the Nobel Peace Prize, who was presented with the European Fair Play Movement’s 1st “Sport for Peace Award” by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The ceremony was dedicated to “Peace Through Sport”.

This 4th edition of World Fair Play Day demonstrated the power of Fair Play in promoting peace through sport and artistic expression. It also celebrated the inspiring individuals and organisations helping to create a more harmonious and respectful world.

The IDO was represented by the presence of IDO Senior Vice President Fiona Johnson and Selina Jappee, from IDO Norway with an artistic dance performance choreographed specially for the occasion.
