Synchro Dance Committee Defines Identity and Expands Creative Vision for 2026

The International Dance Organization (IDO) Synchro Dance Committee held its 2026 meeting, bringing together delegates to discuss the development, positioning, and future opportunities of the discipline.

Chaired by Edilio Pagano, the meeting placed strong emphasis on defining the identity of Synchro Dance as a versatile and inclusive format that goes beyond a single style, embracing a wide range of dance expressions.

One of the key topics was the expansion of competition concepts, including the introduction of new formats such as combining duo synchro performances with freestyle elements. This approach aims to offer dancers greater creative freedom and open new possibilities within the discipline.

The committee also explored the potential for new international projects, including events dedicated to specific styles such as Oriental Synchro, as well as broader participation across different dance departments.

Promotion and education were highlighted as essential tools for growth. The development of dedicated video content was proposed as a way to present Synchro Dance to a wider audience and attract dancers from diverse backgrounds.

With clear ideas, new formats, and a focus on identity, Synchro Dance continues to build its place within the IDO structure as an open and evolving discipline.
