Successful Performing Arts Improvisation Seminar Led by Sylwana Patlaszynska, IDO PA Impro Chairperson
On March 21st, the International Dance Organization (IDO) hosted a highly engaging online seminar focused on Performing Arts Improvisation (PA Impro), led by Sylwana Patlaszynska, Chairperson of the IDO PA Impro discipline. The seminar brought together over 40 participants from 10 different countries, creating a dynamic and international exchange of ideas and practices.
The session explored key aspects of the PA Impro discipline within IDO, including its development over the last three years and its growing importance within the dance community. Participants had the opportunity to learn how this discipline can support National Member Organizations (NMOs), and how hosting PA Impro competitions and workshops can bring valuable benefits to their countries and dance scenes.
A special part of the seminar was dedicated to dance teachers, focusing on how improvisation supports the artistic and technical growth of young dancers. Patlaszynska emphasized the role of improvisation in developing musicality, awareness, and the ability to use various techniques and dance styles more effectively. She underlined how these skills are essential in preparing dancers to become confident and professional artists.
The seminar was a valuable step forward in building knowledge, encouraging dialogue, and supporting the expansion of PA Improvisation within the global IDO community.
