Spectacular Parade of Nations Unites Europe at Skopje 2026

More than 800 dancers filled the floor of SC Boris Trajkovski for a spectacular Parade of Nations during the IDO European Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Contemporary Championships 2026, creating one of the most memorable moments of the nine-day European event.

Flags, colors and dancers from across the continent came together in a powerful celebration of unity, friendship and the international spirit of dance.

The Parade of Nations was officially opened by IDO Executive Secretary Kirsten Dan Jensen, welcoming the delegations to a ceremony celebrating not only the current European Championships, but also the future of major IDO events.

Among the distinguished guests was Mayor of the City of Skopje Orce Gjorgjievski, who joined Organizer Trajce Petkovski and the IDO Senior Vice President for an important announcement on the competition floor.

During the ceremony, the future hosts of two major IDO championships were presented: Prague, Czechia, as host of the 2027 IDO European Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Contemporary Championships, and Skopje, Macedonia, as host of the 2027 IDO World HipHop Championships.

The announcements marked an important moment for the IDO community and another major international sporting and cultural opportunity for Skopje.

Organizer Trajce Petkovski reflected on the significance of the occasion:

“Hosting an event of this scale is a great honor, but also a great responsibility. Together, we created history — connecting the heritage of our wonderful country with the elegance of the performing arts and creating an event and a stage that will remain forever in our hearts.”

The Parade of Nations represented the extraordinary international scale of Skopje 2026, which has welcomed more than 2,900 dancers from 26 countries to Macedonia.

Beyond the competition itself, the Championships have brought together different nations, cultures and generations through a shared passion for dance, while presenting the history, hospitality and cultural heritage of Macedonia to the international dance community.

With hundreds of dancers standing together beneath their national flags, the Parade offered a powerful image of what the International Dance Organization represents — competition on the stage, but friendship and unity beyond it.

26 countries. More than 2,900 dancers. More than 800 dancers together on one floor. One unforgettable Parade of Nations.

Skopje 2026 continues — but this moment will remain part of its history.
