September Becomes the Global Month of Dance as IDO Brings Two Major Championships to Sweden and North Macedonia

This September, the International Dance Organization (IDO) proudly presents two of the most anticipated events on the international dance calendar, bringing together more than 4,400 dancers from 44 countries across two spectacular championships.

The month begins in Örebro, Sweden, where the IDO World Disco Dance, Disco Freestyle, Disco Slow & Disco Show Championships will welcome over 1,500 dancers from 18 countries between 12–15 September 2026. Hosted at the Idrottshuset Arena, the championships will celebrate the incredible speed, athleticism and energy that have made Disco Dance one of the world's most exciting competitive disciplines.

The event is organized by SDO & Knut Säborg Dansstudio, under the leadership of Knut Säborg. Serving as Chairman of Judges will be Kirsten Dan Jensen (Denmark), Supervisor Zbigniew St. Zasada (Poland) and Scrutineer Carsten Eis Bang (Denmark).

Only days later, the focus shifts to Skopje, North Macedonia, where the IDO European Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Contemporary Championships will take place from 21–29 September 2026 at the Boris Trajkovski Sports Center.

With 2,900 dancers representing 26 countries, the championship becomes one of the largest Performing Arts events in Europe this year, transforming the Macedonian capital into the continent's dance capital for nine unforgettable days.

The event is organized by MAMD under the direction of Trajce Petkovski, with an experienced international officiating team consisting of Chairpersons Hana Švehlová (Slovakia) and Jannie Breiner Jensen (Denmark), Supervisor Bonnie Dyer (Canada) and Scrutineer Michal Gawron (Poland).

Speaking ahead of the championships, organizer Trajce Petkovski expressed his excitement:

"Welcoming 2,900 dancers from 26 countries is a tremendous honour and a clear confirmation that Skopje has become one of the most attractive destinations for international dance events. The confidence shown by dancers, coaches and federations inspires us to deliver something truly extraordinary. We are preparing a world-class stage and an event experience unlike anything seen before, ensuring every athlete enjoys the championship they deserve."

Together, these two prestigious championships perfectly illustrate the diversity of the International Dance Organization—from the explosive energy of Disco Dance in Sweden to the elegance and artistry of Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Contemporary in North Macedonia.
