ÖREBRO PREPARES TO WELCOME THE WORLD’S DISCO DANCE COMMUNITY

More than 2000 dancers from 18 countries will travel to Sweden this September for the IDO World Disco Championships 2026

The countdown is on as Örebro, Sweden, prepares to welcome the international Disco Dance community for one of the highlights of the 2026 IDO competition calendar.

From 12–15 September 2026, more than 2000 dancers representing 18 countries will come together for the IDO World Disco Dance & Disco Freestyle Championships, IDO World Disco Slow Championships and IDO World Disco Show Championships.

For four days, Örebro will become the centre of the international Disco Dance world, bringing together outstanding athletes, coaches, officials, families and supporters for a celebration of speed, athleticism, performance and the unique energy of Disco Dance.

The championship also provides international delegations with an opportunity to discover Örebro, a welcoming Swedish city where the World Championship experience will extend beyond the competition floor.

The Idrottshuset Arena, located at Eyragatan 1 and close to the city centre, will provide the setting for the championships. The venue offers two connected arenas — one dedicated to the competition and another for warm-up, allowing dancers to prepare in a dedicated space before taking to the World Championship floor.

This combination of international competition and a host city that is easy for participants to explore will create an opportunity for dancers to experience Örebro both on and off the dance floor.

Preparing for Your Journey

For delegations travelling internationally, Stockholm Arlanda Airport is approximately 200 km from Örebro, with train and bus connections available to Örebro. The organizers also note that rental cars are available from the airports.

A wide selection of hotels is available near the competition arena and around the city, while different food options will also be available inside the venue during the championships.
The championship is organized by SDO & Knut Säborg Dansstudio, with Knut Säborg as Main Organizer. The organizing team has expressed its ambition to create a wonderful atmosphere, a strong sense of community and memorable experiences for the international dance family both on and off the dance floor.
