In Memory of Ralf Josat

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ralf Josat, a cherished member of the International Dance Organization (IDO) family. Ralf was a former IDO Presidium Member, Chairperson of the European Continental Conference, and President of TAF - IDO Germany. Last year, he celebrated 30 years of unwavering dedication to IDO, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.

Ralf’s journey with IDO began with the influential Gloria Fish from South Africa and IDO Honorary President Michael Wendt from Hamburg. His story truly took flight in 1993 when he was invited to serve as a judge in Basel, Switzerland. From that moment, Ralf committed himself wholeheartedly to international dance competitions, always advocating for a competition spirit free from traditional constraints.

Throughout his career, Ralf wore many hats: judge, German representative, committee member, supervisor, chairperson, presidium member, and more. He was fondly known in the dance community as the "guy who never stops asking questions." His relentless curiosity and drive for improvement, despite the occasional dissent, were pivotal in keeping the organization dynamic and forward-thinking.

Ralf's passion for dance was matched by his love for the people he met along the way. He treasured the relationships he built and the countless wonderful individuals who became part of his journey. His influence on the international dance scene was profound, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.

As we remember Ralf Josat, we celebrate a life dedicated to the art of dance and the spirit of innovation. His contributions to IDO and the dance community at large will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Ralf. Your spirit and passion will continue to dance in our hearts.
