IN MEMORY OF RALF JOSAT

One Year Without a Beloved Colleague and Visionary

July 22nd, 2025 marks one year since the International Dance Organization (IDO) and the global dance community lost a dear friend, mentor, and devoted contributor – Ralf Josat.

Ralf was not only a key figure in the world of Performing Arts but also a deeply respected member of the IDO family, especially within the TAF Germany community. His creativity, generosity, and unwavering belief in the expressive power of dance left a profound impact on dancers, choreographers, and organizers around the world.

In recognition of his exceptional contribution and his lifelong passion for the art of improvisation, the IDO Annual General Assembly and TAF Germany have unanimously agreed to introduce a special honor in his name:

Ralf Josat Memorial Award
for Performing Arts Improvisation

This award will be presented at future IDO competitions, ensuring that Ralf’s legacy lives on by celebrating those who dare to express themselves freely, honestly, and courageously through dance – values he embodied throughout his life.

Ralf’s absence is felt every day, but his spirit continues to inspire all of us who had the privilege to work with him, laugh with him, and dream with him.

We remember him with deep gratitude, and we carry his passion forward – on every stage, in every moment.
