Important Travel Update: New Entry/Exit System for Schengen Area from October 2025

The International Dance Organization (IDO) would like to inform all National Member Organizations (NMOs), officials, and dancers about an important update regarding travel to Europe (Schengen countries).

From 12 October 2025, the European Union will introduce a new Entry/Exit System (EES) for travelers entering or leaving the Schengen area. This system will have a direct impact on all individuals attending IDO competitions and events hosted in Europe.

What You Need to Know:

• Valid Travel Documents – Each traveler must carry a valid passport/ID, all required visas, and relevant travel documents.

• Travel Insurance – It is the responsibility of each traveler to secure proper travel insurance before departure.

• Children’s Travel Authorization – For those traveling with children, please ensure that official written travel authorization is provided and verified through your municipality or competent government institution.

• Biometric Registration – At the first point of entry or exit, travelers will be required to provide fingerprints and have their photograph taken.

• Longer Queues Expected – During the initial phase of implementation, border crossing times may be longer than usual. Please plan your travel accordingly.
