IDO WEBINAR TO EXPLORE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE FUTURE OF DANCE

The International Dance Organization (IDO) is pleased to announce a new educational webinar dedicated to one of the most rapidly developing topics of our time – Artificial Intelligence and its potential role in dance and dance sport.

The online webinar, “Artificial Intelligence in Dance,” will take place on 13 November 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CET, and will be presented by MSc Patrik Perosa.

As Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly present in everyday and professional life, its potential applications are also generating growing discussion across sport, education and the creative industries. Dance is no exception.

Through this webinar, IDO aims to introduce its international community to current developments surrounding AI and encourage an informed discussion about the opportunities, questions and challenges that emerging technologies may bring to the dance sector.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DANCE

The webinar will provide an introductory overview of current developments and discussions surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence in sport and dance.

Based on selected recent publications, frameworks and practical examples, MSc Patrik Perosa will explore how AI is currently being approached and used within these fields, while considering its possible future relevance to the international dance community.

Topics will include:

  • current approaches to Artificial Intelligence in sport and dance;
  • emerging applications and opportunities for the dance community;
  • potential implications for dance sport, education, training and performance;
  • ethical, professional and practical questions associated with the development and use of AI; and
  • possible future roles of Artificial Intelligence within the dance sector.

The session is intended not only to introduce participants to the subject, but also to encourage reflection and an exchange of views about what the continued development of AI could mean for dancers, coaches, teachers, judges, officials and dance organizations.

TECHNOLOGY MEETS THE HUMAN ART OF DANCE

Dance is built upon human creativity, expression, movement, knowledge and emotion. At the same time, technological development continues to create new tools and possibilities across many areas of professional and sporting life.

Understanding these developments is becoming increasingly important.

The webinar will therefore provide an opportunity for the IDO community to examine AI from the perspective of dance and dance sport and to begin considering how technological innovation could be approached in a responsible, informed and constructive way.

The aim is not to provide definitive answers to a field that continues to evolve rapidly, but to create greater awareness and encourage dialogue within the international dance community.

AN INVITATION TO THE GLOBAL IDO COMMUNITY

The International Dance Organization invites IDO Members, Officials, Judges, Coaches, Teachers, Athletes and other members of the dance community to participate in this timely educational webinar.
