IDO Street Dance Show Committee Sets Clear Direction for Future Growth in 2026
The International Dance Organization (IDO) Street Dance Show Committee successfully held its annual meeting on 7 March 2026, bringing together representatives from 16 countries in a strong display of international collaboration and commitment to the development of the discipline.
Chaired by Jannie Breiner Jensen, the meeting gathered 21 participants including IDO President Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdic and members of the Presidium, alongside experienced delegates from across Europe, Africa, Australia, and North America.
Strong International Engagement and Review of 2025
The committee reviewed the previous year’s activities, highlighting key championships held in Sweden and Germany. While participation levels showed certain challenges, the discussions reflected a shared motivation to strengthen and further develop Street Dance Show within IDO.
A clear focus was placed on increasing the visibility and attractiveness of the discipline. One of the key ideas introduced was the recognition of outstanding choreographers, an initiative that received strong support from the delegates as an important step forward in celebrating creativity and excellence.
Strategic Direction for 2026 and Beyond
Looking ahead, the committee discussed important strategies to enhance participation and global reach. A strong consensus emerged around continuing to connect Street Dance Show competitions with Hip Hop championships, creating larger and more dynamic events while attracting dancers from multiple continents.
Delegates emphasized that this approach has already shown positive results in other disciplines and offers strong potential for growth, visibility, and international exchange within the Street Dance Show community.
The upcoming IDO Street Dance Show World Championships in Győr, Hungary, scheduled for July 2026, were also discussed, with final confirmation expected soon.
Focus on Promotion and Media Development
An important topic of the meeting was the need for stronger promotion of the discipline. The committee highlighted the importance of video content and digital media in reaching wider audiences and inspiring new dancers to engage with Street Dance Show.
This direction aligns with IDO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen communication, visibility, and engagement across all disciplines.
A United Vision for the Future
The meeting concluded with a clear and unified vision: to grow Street Dance Show through collaboration, innovation, and stronger international connection.
With active involvement from member countries and continued support from IDO leadership, the discipline is set to move forward with renewed energy and a clear development path for the coming years.
