IDO Presidium Concludes Strategic Meeting in Copenhagen
The International Dance Organization (IDO) successfully concluded its two-day Presidium Meeting held at Hotel Tivoli in Copenhagen, following an Executive Presidium session conducted the day prior.
The meeting gathered IDO leadership for focused discussions on strategic direction, organizational development, and future initiatives. IDO President Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdić expressed strong satisfaction with the level of engagement and the quality of the presentations and proposals.
“I consider the level of discussion to have been exceptionally strong, and I am very proud of our leadership team,” he stated.
Key Outcomes
The Presidium reached several important decisions and milestones:
- Expansion into Asia: IDO will establish an official Asian Office in South Korea to support the Asian Board and strengthen regional activities.
- Annual General Assembly: Preparations have begun for the upcoming AGA in Paphos, Cyprus.
- Championship Development: Discussions focused on improving the structure and delivery of future IDO Championships.
- Medical & Scientific Commission: A new commission has been established to focus on preventive action, dancer health, and overall well-being.
- Educational Partnerships: Cooperation with Acrobatic Arts and BLOC has been confirmed, supporting the development of dancers, coaches, and officials.
- New Member Nations: IDO welcomes India, Azerbaijan, and Montenegro as new member countries.
- Education & Accreditation: A new accreditation process for micro-credential programs for trainers has been initiated in cooperation with higher education institutions.
- Governance: The Presidium adopted official job descriptions for elected and ex-officio members, strengthening internal structure and clarity.
- Marketing & Media: Continued cooperation with Offline Production has been confirmed for future marketing and communication activities.
- IDO Annual Awards: A new annual recognition program will be introduced, honoring two dancers and one teacher each year.
- Organizational Development: The establishment of an official IDO company has been approved.
- 45-Year Anniversary: Initial planning has begun for the celebration of 45 years of IDO.
The meeting also included participation from the Dancers’ Commission, represented by Mika Einmal, ensuring that dancers’ perspectives were part of the discussions.
Next Meetings
The next Presidium Meeting will take place online on 15 June 2026, followed by an in-person meeting on 27 June 2026 in Cyprus.
The Copenhagen meeting confirmed IDO’s continued focus on development, structure, and global growth, reinforcing its role as a leading international dance organization.
