IDO Popping Committee Focuses on Music Quality and Event Preparation for 2026

The International Dance Organization (IDO) Popping Committee held its annual meeting on 6 March 2026, bringing together delegates from 14 countries to review the current state of the discipline and prepare for the upcoming season.

Led by Chairperson Alessandro Farotto, the meeting focused on improving the overall competition experience, with particular attention on music selection and performance flow.

A proposal regarding tempo structure for solos and duos was presented and discussed, leading to a broader conclusion that music quality plays a key role in the performance level. As a result, the committee agreed on the importance of providing clear guidelines for DJs, which will be developed and shared with national organizations to ensure consistency across events.

Key competitions for 2026 were confirmed, including the European Championships in Klagenfurt, Austria in June and the World Championships in Kielce, Poland in October.

With a strong emphasis on musical direction, organization standards, and clear communication, the Popping discipline continues to strengthen its structure and competitive environment within IDO.
