The meeting, chaired by Hana Svehlova, IDO Vice-President for Dance Sport Rules and Chairperson of the Technical Committee, provided a vital platform for representatives to exchange insights, share national developments, and explore ways to expand Oriental dance within IDO competitions. Germany reported an impressive 640 entries across all age groups in 2024, with growing interest in classic and show fantasy styles. A groundbreaking inclusive category was introduced, ensuring accessibility for all dancers.

Italy highlighted a rise in younger participants, strengthening the classical and folklore divisions.

Czechia continues to host successful annual national Oriental dance events, mainly attracting juniors and adults.

Montenegro experienced a steady increase in competitions, expanding their junior and adult divisions while introducing a new category for kids.

Ukraine expressed challenges due to ongoing difficulties but emphasized the unwavering passion of its dancers eager to compete internationally.
Growing Opportunities for Competitions
One of the main topics discussed was the lack of an official IDO Oriental Dance World Championship in the 2025 calendar. However, the committee outlined several opportunities for IDO-licensed events, ensuring Oriental dance maintains its global standing. Countries including Italy and Germany showed interest in organizing such events, reinforcing IDO’s commitment to supporting the growth of this style internationally.
