The lecture, attended by judges, trainers, and choreographers from across the globe, focused on essential aspects of couple dance disciplines including Argentine Tango, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Caribbean Dances, Latin Show, and Synchro Dance.
Dr. Höllbacher guided participants through a wide range of topics, including:
-
Lifts and Across – understanding correct execution and judging criteria.
-
Show in Caribbean and Latin Show – differences between performance and non-performance elements.
-
Technique and Composition – how to balance artistry with proper dance technique.
-
Costumes and Image – ensuring dancers respect IDO regulations while supporting creativity on stage.
“Couple dances combine artistry, rhythm, and partnership. It is vital that our officials and trainers fully understand the rules and nuances to ensure fair and inspiring competitions,” said Dr. Klaus Höllbacher.
The seminar sparked lively discussion, offering participants clear guidance on how to apply IDO rules within competitions, while also encouraging creativity and cultural authenticity.
As part of the IDO Online Education Week, the Couple Dance Department lecture reinforced IDO’s commitment to continuous education and alignment across all disciplines.
