IDO Jazz Dance Seminar Brings International Expertise with Knut Arild Flatner
On April 9, the International Dance Organization successfully held the IDO Jazz Dance Seminar, bringing together dancers, teachers, and professionals from across the global dance community.
The seminar welcomed 48 participants from 18 different countries, creating a dynamic and inspiring international learning environment focused on the development of jazz dance within IDO.
Leading the seminar was Knut Arild Flatner from Norway, a highly respected figure in the field of jazz dance. Flatner is a dancer, choreographer, and educator with an extensive international career. He graduated from the Norwegian National Academy of Ballet and has been a long-time performer with Oslo Dance Ensemble. He is also co-founder of the renowned dance company Subjazz, known for its innovative approach to contemporary jazz.
In addition to his performance career, Flatner is an Associate Professor of Jazz Dance at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, where he contributes to the education of future generations of dancers.
Throughout the seminar, participants had the opportunity to work closely with Flatner, gaining insights into technique, musicality, and artistic expression within jazz dance. His teaching approach combines strong technical foundations with creativity and individuality, offering dancers valuable tools for both competition and stage performance.
