IDO Hip Hop Committee Meets to Prepare for a Dynamic 2025 Season
On April 4th, the IDO Hip Hop Committee held its annual meeting via Zoom, welcoming 34 delegates from across continents to review the past season, discuss the year ahead, and continue strengthening IDO’s hip hop programs worldwide.
Chairperson Carsten Rott was re-elected unanimously to continue leading the committee, following a proposal from Denmark and full agreement from the international delegation. This decision reflects the delegates’ ongoing confidence in his leadership during a busy and evolving competition calendar.

New Battle Format Successfully Tested
A revised format for Hip Hop Battles Pre-rounds (HHB Pre) was piloted in Skopje, introducing 4 dancers, each performing 40 seconds per style, with only 2 entries progressing to the semifinals. The format was well received and is expected to enhance performance dynamics and time efficiency. -
2025 Competition Calendar and Deadlines
Delegates were reminded that deadlines for 2025 events are earlier than in previous years—up to 7 weeks in advance. Key competitions include:-
Örebro (Sweden) – European Championships: Hip Hop, Popping, Battles, Breaking, Street Dance Show – Deadline: May 1

Osnabrück (Germany) – World Cups: Hip Hop, Popping, Inclusive, SDS – Deadline: September 1

Ljubljana (Slovenia) – World Championships: Hip Hop, Popping, Battles, Breaking – Deadline: September 15
Organizers are already addressing potential category overlaps, ensuring smooth schedules and efficient event management.

Rules Revision in Progress
The committee is in the process of refining the IDO Hip Hop rulebook, aiming to clarify the structure and simplify technical details while maintaining fairness and professionalism.
