IDO Grows Stronger: Surge in Interest for Future IDO Judges
The International Dance Organization (IDO) continues to grow, with rising interest in becoming an internationally licensed IDO judge.
This past weekend was dedicated to IDO seminars and exams for judges, chairpersons, and supervisors. On Saturday, April 12, 2025, a hybrid-format seminar was attended by 71 participants from 16 countries. The following day, 17 candidates from 12 countries took part in the official IDO judging exams.
Velibor Srdic, Kirsten Dan Jensen, Fiona Johnson, and Jannie Breiner Jensen were present as IDO officials, overseeing both the seminars and the examinations.
The weekend also featured a mock judging exam—an initiative that has been fully implemented since last year. It has proven to be efficient, cost-effective, and reliable in preparing new candidates.
The combination of online and in-person testing has once again shown to be a successful formula for accessible and quality evaluation.
There is a growing need for qualified judges, particularly experts in specific dance styles across all IDO dance departments. With the current pace of development, IDO is expected to need even more licensed judges in the future.
IDO remains committed to continuously educating and strengthening its base of officials, in line with the organization's global expansion.
