IDO Disco Committee Emphasizes Artistic Direction and Future Development of the Discipline

The International Dance Organization (IDO) Disco Dance Committee held its annual meeting, bringing together a wide group of international delegates to review recent developments and outline the next steps for the discipline.

Led by Chairperson Giancarlo Tarabella, the meeting confirmed strong activity in Disco Dance, with successful events and continued participation across multiple categories.

A central focus of the discussions was the artistic direction of Disco Dance. Delegates highlighted the importance of strengthening musicality, rhythm, and overall dance quality, ensuring that performance remains at the core of the discipline.

The committee also reviewed a proposal concerning the structure of adult duo categories. Following an open and constructive discussion, it was agreed to continue observing the development of the category before introducing any changes.

Attention was also given to the increasing presence of acrobatic elements in performances. The committee agreed on the need for clearer guidelines and further education to support dancers, trainers, and judges, with the aim of maintaining both safety and the identity of Disco Dance.

With a clear focus on quality, structure, and development, Disco Dance continues to evolve while preserving its core values.
