IDO Dancers' Commission Reviews 2024 and Prepares for 2025

January 22, 2025 – The International Dance Organization's (IDO) Dancers' Commission convened to review its achievements in 2024 and lay the groundwork for 2025. Chaired by Hana Svehlova, the meeting emphasized improved communication, event planning, and the importance of connecting with dancers worldwide.

Delegates Present:

  • Mika Einmal (Germany, Performing Arts)
  • Cory Lunny (USA, Performing Arts)
  • Tobias Kosir (Czechia, Performing Arts)
  • Lana Vrtacnik (Slovenia, Street Dance)
  • Julia Szewczyk (Poland, Couple Dance)
  • Hana Svehlova (Slovakia, IDO Presidium Member)

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

  1. Welcoming and Approvals:
Hana Svehlova welcomed attendees and served as the keeper of minutes. The minutes from the July 11, 2024 meeting were reviewed and approved.

  2. 2024 Review:
Commission members reflected on forums held during IDO World Championships. While forums were well-attended, the absence of commission members at some events was noted. Members agreed that separate forums for dancers and coaches would encourage open and honest discussion.

    • Cory highlighted positive interactions at the World Tap Dance Championships in Prague, while Mika and Tobias suggested improved scheduling for forums targeting adult dancers.
    • Lana and Julia praised the Hip-Hop World Championships in Skopje for its excellent organization and social media outreach.
  3. Plans for 2025:
The Dancers’ Commission outlined upcoming meetings, including online gatherings for dance committees, the Presidium, and the Annual General Assembly. Members were encouraged to provide feedback, share updates from competitions, and collaborate actively in group discussions.

  4. Goals for 2025:
Members discussed strategies to engage dancers, collect their input, and strengthen communication through forums and social media. Emphasis was placed on collaboration and visibility at IDO events.

The meeting concluded with a group photo and a reminder of the importance of their mission to support dancers globally. The next meeting date is to be announced.
