Historic Partnership Set to Transform the World Breaking Championships 2025

The International Dance Organization (IDO) and the Breaking League of Organizations & Clubs (BLOC) have officially announced a groundbreaking collaboration for the upcoming IDO World Breaking Championships 2025. This strategic alliance marks a defining moment in the evolution of breaking—blending deep-rooted community culture with professional global structure.

With over 40 years of championship history, IDO brings an established network of national members and a tested event framework. BLOC, on the other hand, emerges as a powerful global movement, empowering clubs and cultural leaders to reclaim ownership of breaking’s future after its Olympic debut in 2024. Together, they aim to establish an independent, inclusive, and globally sustainable ecosystem for breaking.

“This collaboration is more than just a partnership—it’s a blueprint for the future of breaking,” said Uroš Skulj, Chairperson of the IDO Breaking Committee. “With shared values and a unified vision, we’re honoring the roots while pushing boundaries forward.”

At the heart of this evolution is the O.U.R. System—a judging method built by the breaking community for the breaking community. First developed in 1999 by Karl “Dyzee” Alba, now Director of BLOC and Breaking Advisor to the IDO President, the system introduces a rubric-based, turn-by-turn scoring framework grounded in five dimensions: Foundation, Originality, Dynamics, Execution, and Cypher.

“O.U.R. stands for Objective, Unified, Real-time. It’s about fairness, transparency, and cultural integrity,” said Dyzee. “For the first time, we are creating a truly global league without compromising our roots.”

The 2025 Championships will preserve IDO’s familiar competition structure—preselections, knockout rounds, and national team selections—while enhancing the judging panel with five VIP breaking experts and five certified Dimensions Judges. This dual approach ensures both legacy and innovation thrive on the same stage.
