IDO Annual General Assembly 2026 Officially Begins in Paphos, Cyprus
Paphos, Cyprus – June 25, 2026 – Delegates from across the globe have gathered in Paphos, Cyprus, as the International Dance Organization (IDO) officially opened its 2026 Annual General Assembly. Representatives of the IDO National Member Organizations, Presidium members, committee chairpersons and invited guests began the event with the IDO Members' Forum before continuing with the first sessions of the Annual General Assembly.
The opening Forum focused on some of the most important strategic topics shaping the future of the organization. IDO Senior Vice President Fiona Johnson presented two major proposals for discussion: the vision and concept for the IDO World Dance Gala 2027, together with a proposal for a revised starting fee structure for future IDO Championships. Both presentations encouraged delegates to exchange ideas and provide valuable feedback before the proposals move forward for consideration during the Assembly.
The Forum continued with discussions on the future development of the Couple Dance Department, bringing together delegates to explore new opportunities for growth and the continued evolution of one of IDO's important dance disciplines.
Opening the meeting, IDO President Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdić welcomed the delegates and expressed his pleasure at seeing representatives from around the world gathered together once again.
"It is a great pleasure to welcome our IDO family to Cyprus. Seeing delegates from every corner of the world united with the same passion for dance reminds us of the strength of our organization. Together we continue to build the future of IDO through cooperation, discussion and shared vision," said President Srdić.
The Annual General Assembly remains the highest decision-making body of the IDO, providing an opportunity for members to contribute to the organization's future through open discussion, collaboration and democratic decision-making.
