IDO and Alma Mater Europaea Launch International Dance Trainer Micro-Credentials Programme

The International Dance Organization (IDO) has taken another important step in strengthening dance education with the presentation of the new IDO Dance Trainer Micro-Credentials Programme, developed in partnership with Alma Mater Europaea University.

The programme was officially presented during the 2026 IDO Annual General Assembly by Ana Vodišek, Professor at Alma Mater Europaea and Programme Coordinator, who introduced delegates to a modern educational pathway designed to elevate dance coaching through internationally recognized academic standards.

The new initiative creates a bridge between practical dance experience and higher education, allowing dancers, teachers and coaches to further develop their professional competencies while earning university-recognized micro-credentials. It reflects IDO's long-term commitment to investing in education as one of the key pillars of the organization's future.

The curriculum has been specifically designed to combine academic knowledge with the practical needs of today's dance professionals. Participants will study IDO-specific dance systems and categories, anatomy and biomechanics, physical preparation, didactics and teaching methodology, sports psychology, performance and stage presence, practical work under professional mentorship and a final project leading to the qualification of IDO Certified Dance Trainer.

Alma Mater Europaea, an internationally accredited university with campuses in Slovenia and Austria, is recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to higher education and lifelong learning. Through this partnership, IDO members will gain access to high-quality educational opportunities that support professional growth while strengthening coaching standards across the global dance community.

The presentation generated significant interest among delegates, highlighting the growing importance of education within the International Dance Organization. The programme represents another milestone in IDO's vision of creating clear educational pathways for dancers, teachers and officials, ensuring that the next generation of dance professionals is equipped with both practical expertise and academic excellence.

With this collaboration, IDO continues to reinforce its commitment to innovation, education and lifelong learning, creating new opportunities for members around the world while further professionalizing the global dance community.
