HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR IDO: A NEW CHAPTER IN THE GLOBAL SPORTING MOVEMENT!

World Sport for All joins AIMS, strengthening IDO's connection to the international sporting community and the Olympic Movement.

9 October 2026

The International Dance Organization (IDO) proudly welcomes a major development in the international sporting movement following the official admission of World Sport for All (FISpT) as an Associate Member of the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport (AIMS).

For IDO, which officially became an Associate Member of FISpT in January 2026, this achievement represents another significant milestone in strengthening the international position of dance and dance sport.

AIMS is an umbrella organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a stakeholder within SportAccord, one of the most important institutional platforms bringing together international sports federations and organisations worldwide.

Through its membership in FISpT, IDO is part of an international sporting network whose institutional connections now extend further into the recognised global sporting structure.

This is more than an institutional achievement. It is another important step towards strengthening the recognition, visibility and credibility of competitive dance within international sport.

A MAJOR STEP FORWARD FOR DANCE AS A SPORT

The admission of FISpT to AIMS represents an important development for the entire Sport for All community.

AIMS plays a significant role within the international sporting structure, supporting federations in their development, promoting good governance and strengthening cooperation with the Olympic Movement.

For IDO, this development creates new perspectives for international cooperation, institutional dialogue and future opportunities for its member federations, athletes, coaches and officials.

While this affiliation does not constitute direct IOC, AIMS or SportAccord recognition of IDO, it further strengthens the international sporting network in which the organisation participates.

For decades, IDO has demonstrated that dance is not only an extraordinary form of artistic expression but also a highly demanding competitive sport, combining athletic excellence, discipline, technical precision and physical performance.

Today, IDO continues to promote these values through its World and Continental Championships, international competition standards and a global community of dancers representing nations across six continents.

2026: A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR AND 45 YEARS OF IDO EXCELLENCE!

The significance of this milestone becomes even greater as 2026 marks one of the most remarkable years in IDO's history.

Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the International Dance Organization is experiencing a record-breaking year of international activity, major championships, global participation and institutional development.

From spectacular World and Continental Championships to expanding international partnerships and new opportunities for the dance community, 2026 demonstrates the strength, growth and global influence of IDO.

The organisation's membership in FISpT, together with this latest development involving AIMS, represents another important achievement in a year already filled with historic milestones.

45 years of dedication, passion and sporting excellence have brought IDO to this moment.

The International Dance Organization congratulates World Sport for All on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to continuing its journey towards stronger international cooperation and greater recognition of dance within the global sporting movement.

A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR. A HISTORIC ANNIVERSARY. A NEW CHAPTER FOR INTERNATIONAL DANCE.

DANCE IS ART. DANCE IS SPORT. DANCE IS IDO.
