HipHop Battle Online Seminar with Can Tohma Inspires Dancers Across the Globe

The International Dance Organization (IDO) recently hosted an educational online seminar focused on the HipHop Battle discipline, led by the newly elected Chairperson of the IDO HipHop Battle Committee, Can Tohma from Türkiye.

With a passion for street dance culture and years of experience in the battle scene, Can shared valuable insights into the rules of the HipHop Battle discipline, bringing clarity to dancers, judges, and trainers from around the world. He also dove into the history and evolution of dance styles such as old school hip hop, popping, and locking, explaining their origins and how each style has developed over the decades.

The seminar attracted participants from multiple countries, united by their shared love of hip-hop and the desire to grow their understanding of the discipline. Can emphasized the importance of preserving the roots of each style, while also encouraging individuality and innovation on the battle floor.

This session marks a new beginning for the IDO HipHop Battle community, with a stronger focus on education, respect for culture, and building a global network of dancers who support and inspire each other.

More seminars and educational activities are planned throughout the year as part of IDO’s mission to elevate the global street dance scene.
