Gala Brilliance and a Historic First at the IDO European Championships in Poland
GRODZISK MAZOWIECKI, POLAND – June 12, 2025 – The second day of the IDO European Championships 2025 delivered powerful emotion, elegance, and a groundbreaking moment in dance history.
The day began with strong competition in Jazz Dance categories, where solo dancers and groups lit up the stage with passion, artistry, and unmistakable technique. Each performance celebrated the diversity of jazz movement – from sharp, theatrical precision to lyrical storytelling through rhythm.
Later in the evening, the audience witnessed a spectacular Gala Opening Ceremony, welcoming dancers, officials, and guests from across Europe. The ceremony was a celebration of unity through dance — with live performances, visual spectacle, and emotional moments shared between nations.
For the first time in IDO history, the Performing Arts discipline introduced Improvisation as a competitive category. Dancers had to respond in real-time to unknown music on stage, relying entirely on instinct, emotion, and raw creativity. The results were unforgettable — with powerful, unscripted moments that left the audience breathless and judges deeply impressed.
Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdic, President of IDO and Chairman of Judges, addressed the audience during the gala:
"This event is more than a championship – it’s a celebration of European dance culture. I am truly proud of the incredible level of artistry shown by our dancers, and I sincerely thank the organizers for creating such an outstanding environment for talent to shine."
