Fiona Johnson, IDO Senior Vice President, Embarks on Successful Inaugural Tour Across Asia

Fiona Johnson, the Senior Vice President of the International Dance Organization , has completed her first momentous tour in Asia, marked by her attendance at two remarkable IDO Licensed events. Her visit signified a significant step towards strengthening IDO's presence in the Asian dance community.

The tour commenced with Fiona Johnson's attendance at the prestigious IDO World Dance Festival (IDOWDF) held in Goyang City, Korea, from August 4th to August 6th, 2023. The festival, which showcased the boundless talent and dedication of dancers, welcomed a diverse group of approximately 400 participants hailing from 15 different countries. Nations such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Singapore, Kazakhstan, and Korea, united to participate in a riveting display of dance excellence.

The IDOWDF was distinguished by its comprehensive programming, which included captivating competitions, dazzling galas, enlightening conferences, and enriching tour programs. Sponsored by the Korea Tourism Organization, this annual event has become an integral part of the K-Convention project, contributing to the cultural vibrancy of the region. The festival will continue to be a key highlight on the Asian dance calendar, taking place each August during Korea's vacation period from 2023 to 2025.

In another striking leg of her tour, from August 6th to August 8th, Fiona Johnson graced the Taipei Open Championships organized by Asia Dancesport. This event, led by the dynamic duo Mr. Michael Wang and Mrs. Lilly Wang, attracted more than 500 talented dancers from 16 different countries. The championships provided a captivating platform for participants to showcase their skills and deliver breathtaking performances that captivated the audience's hearts.

Crucially, Fiona Johnson's visit wasn't just about attending these stellar events. The tour was accompanied by productive meetings focused on propelling the region's dance development forward. Representatives from the participating countries gathered to discuss exciting future projects that would enhance the dance landscape in Asia. A pivotal player in these discussions was the newly elected IDO Vice President, Aleena Tan, who is set to collaborate with the Asian dance community to usher in new and innovative projects.

Fiona Johnson's inaugural tour in Asia marked a resounding success, fostering greater ties between IDO and the vibrant dance community in the region. Her involvement in the IDOWDF and the Taipei Open Championships served to underscore IDO's commitment to nurturing dance talent, fostering international connections, and paving the way for the evolution of dance in Asia.
