Excitement Builds as Skopje Hosts the IDO World Couple Dance Championships from November 6th to the 10th

The vibrant city of Skopje is set to become the global epicentre of dance from 6.11. to 10.11. as it plays host to the highly anticipated IDO World Couple Dance Championships. With the stage set and the dancers ready to dazzle, this event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the art of couple dance.

This spectacular event is the result of a collaborative effort between the International Dance Organization (IDO) and the dedicated organizer, Ilija Karadakoski. With a shared passion for dance and a commitment to bringing the world of dance together, this partnership has brought to life an event that will captivate and inspire dance enthusiasts from around the globe.

1. Dear Iliija, thank you for your time.
Tell us more about you and your work.

I am getting close to 20 years in the dance world professionally, so - I am old! :) I started dancing hip hop at 14 years old and Latin at 18 years old. In 2016, my wife and I opened our dance studio - Eat The Beat. I am very blessed and grateful to be able to do what I love, but my biggest passion was organizing dance events/festivals/competitions. I love everything about it, the complexity of the organization, and taking care of all the participants and officials. This is what I want to do until the end of my career.

2. How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Positive, creative, ambitious, passionate, reliable. :)

3. The IDO World Couple Dance 2022 were held in Warsaw, Poland. What can participants and spectators expect from this year's championships? What are the biggest challenges as an organizer?

Every year we are trying to make better and more memorable experiences for the dancers, officials and all guests that are coming to our competitions. I think this also answers the second question - organizing a competition that the dancers will remember. I will do everything I can to make sure they feel comfortable and enjoy every moment of the competition.

4. What inspired you to bring this event to Skopje?
My main inspiration in doing this event is to popularize the couple dance disciplines in our country and region, to motivate the youth to dance and to show the public the many great benefits of dancing.

5. How many countries and dancers will participate in Skopje?
In Skopje, we have 22 countries participants with 1350 dancers.

6. Can you share your personal favourite memory or performance from past organized championships in Skopje or any other IDO competition?
My personal favourites are my team becoming world champions in the 2017 IDO World Latin Championships in Athens and the 2019 IDO World Latin Championships in Sarajevo.

7. What to expect from Skopje? (more about the best features regarding the competition ex. amazing hall, shopping etc.)
Macedonian people are very friendly and welcoming, you can expect great positive energy from everyone, a beautiful venue, tasteful traditional food, many landmarks to visit, and of course big shopping malls with many choices.

8. Your message to the IDO dance community.
Dancers, you have the ability to turn the ordinary into extraordinary and the mundane into magical. Thank you for gracing the world with your talent, determination, and unwavering love for the art of dance.

Thank you so much for this and all the best at the competition. 👏

See you in Skopje for the IDO World Couple Dance Championships - where the world dances as one!
