Caribbean Dance Committee Explores New Formats and Expands Opportunities for 2026

The International Dance Organization (IDO) Caribbean Dance Committee held its annual meeting in March 2026, gathering delegates from across Europe to discuss the development and future direction of the discipline.

Chaired by Edilio Pagano, the meeting focused on strengthening participation and introducing new ideas to support the growth of Caribbean Dance within IDO.

Key events for 2026 were confirmed, with the European and World Championships scheduled to take place in Austria and Cyprus, offering important platforms for dancers and teams.

A central point of discussion was the introduction of new competition formats. Proposals included creating group categories that combine different Caribbean dance styles, encouraging creativity and broader participation. Additional ideas explored potential connections between Caribbean and Latin dance disciplines to address participation levels and create new competitive structures.

The committee also addressed practical challenges faced by dancers, including travel and visa-related issues, underlining the importance of accessibility and support for international participation.

With new proposals under consideration and continued collaboration between member countries, Caribbean Dance within IDO is moving forward with fresh ideas and a focus on expanding opportunities for dancers.
