BLOC x IDO Educational Meeting Strengthens Global Direction of Breaking on the Road to Ljubljana 2026

A focused and inspiring BLOC x IDO online meeting brought together key international delegates this week as part of an ongoing effort to develop and unify the future of Breaking within the International Dance Organization (IDO). The educational session gathered more than 15 engaged attendees who actively contributed to the discussion.

The purpose of the session was clear: to build a shared understanding of competition structure, educate delegates, and introduce transparent judging methods that will be used at future IDO Breaking events — including the highly anticipated IDO World Breaking Championships in Ljubljana in 2026.

Education First – Clear Rules and Fair Structure

The meeting opened with a technical presentation by Uroš Skulj, who outlined the official Age Divisions, competition categories, and battle formats recognized by IDO and BLOC. He highlighted a structured and logical format for 1vs1, 2vs2, and Crew categories, supported by clear rules to ensure fairness and progression across all levels of competition.

The presentation also emphasized the importance of safety and responsibility, reminding trainers and leaders that dancers must not perform elements beyond their physical capabilities. These guidelines provide clarity and organization for international IDO events, ensuring consistency across all countries.

The O.U.R. System – More Than a Judging Tool

The second part of the session was led by legendary global Breaking pioneer Dyzee, who presented the O.U.R Judging System (Objective – Unified – Real-Time). Officially adopted by BLOC and supported by IDO, this system has been used worldwide for over a decade. Unlike traditional judging approaches, it offers transparency and cultural authenticity, built on five equal perspectives:

  • Foundation

  • Originality

  • Dynamics

  • Execution

  • Cypher (Battle Strategy)

Each element is assessed in real time by dedicated judges, ensuring that no single style dominates and that every dancer has a fair chance, whether focused on footwork, musicality, creativity, power, or flow.

OUR System x BLOC

“People want to be educated. They asked great questions, and it’s clear that Breaking inside IDO is moving in the right direction,” said Uroš Skulj after the meeting. “We are building something strong and long-term, and we are excited about Ljubljana 2026.”

A Vision Shared by IDO Leadership

IDO President Velibor Srdic welcomed the initiative and emphasized its strategic importance:

“Breaking is one of the most exciting dance forms in the world today. It carries a true culture, story, identity, and community spirit. Through our cooperation with BLOC, we are investing in education, development, and transparency. Together we are building a strong and credible future for Breaking inside IDO — and this journey continues towards Ljubljana 2026.”

The session concluded with great energy, ongoing discussion, and a shared commitment to elevate Breaking on a global sporting and cultural level. This meeting is part of a wider educational plan between BLOC and IDO, with more development sessions and certification programs to come.
