Acrobatic Dance Forum and Show Dance Committee Meeting Highlight Strong Global Cooperation in Castellanza

CASTELLANZA, ITALY — The International Dance Organization (IDO) successfully hosted two important meetings during the World Championships in Castellanza, bringing together delegates from across the globe to discuss the future of Acrobatic Dance and Show Dance.

On November 17th, the Acrobatic Dance Forum took place, chaired by Bonnie Dyer (Canada), with delegates from three continents in attendance. Held during the IDO World Acrobatic Dance Championships, the forum focused on key areas for the development of the discipline, including choreography content, judging standards, and several upcoming educational projects.
This year’s World Championships welcomed over 3000 elite dancers, creating an outstanding atmosphere under the hosting of the IDO Italian Organization CIBS.

In addition, the IDO Show Dance Committee convened with 19 delegates from 14 countries, joined by IDO Presidium members Hana Švehlová and Bonnie Dyer. The committee discussed future competition schedules, artistic direction, and potential ways to combine Performing Arts disciplines within IDO events. Delegates expressed strong unity and optimism for strengthening Show Dance — a discipline with deep IDO roots dating back to 1982.

Both meetings reflected a highly positive and forward-thinking spirit, demonstrating IDO’s commitment to artistic quality, global cooperation, and continued development across its Performing Arts divisions.

The IDO now looks ahead to an exciting season of growth and innovation, highlighted by the 2026 World Acrobatic Dance and Show Dance Championships in Poland, where many of the ideas discussed in Castellanza will continue to evolve.
