A Spectacular Opening Day at the IDO European Show Dance Championships 2026 in Medvode

The IDO European Show Dance Championships 2026 opened in spectacular fashion today in Medvode, Slovenia, as dancers from across Europe took to the stage for an unforgettable first day of competition. Hosted by Plesna Zveza Slovenije, the championship once again showcased why Show Dance is one of the most artistic and emotionally captivating disciplines within the International Dance Organization.

Day one featured an exciting programme with Mini Kids Formations, Children Duos, Mini Kids Solo Female, Mini Kids Duos, Mini Kids Groups, Children Groups, Juniors 1 Solo Female, Juniors Groups and Juniors 1 Solo Male categories, bringing a beautiful mix of young talent, creativity, storytelling and technical excellence to the stage.

Throughout the day, audiences enjoyed performances filled with emotion, imagination and outstanding stage presence. From the youngest dancers to the highly competitive junior categories, every performance reflected dedication, passion and the true spirit of Show Dance.

The championship is officiated by an experienced international team, with Azra Pucko from Slovenia as Moderator, Hana Svehlova from the Slovak Republic as Chairman of Judges, Velibor Srdic from Bosnia & Herzegovina as Supervisor, and Anja Psenica and Vesna Huber from Slovenia serving as Scrutineers.

As the first medals were awarded, the atmosphere inside Sport Hall Medvode reflected everything that makes the IDO family special—friendship, respect, artistic excellence and the joy of dance.

With two more exciting days still ahead, the IDO European Show Dance Championships 2026 promise even more spectacular performances on the road to the prestigious title of IDO European Champion.
