12 Days That Redefined What an IDO Event Can Be
Looking back at the past week in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, I can say without hesitation: we experienced something exceptional — something that should inspire and guide all future IDO events.
As Vice President for Marketing and Communications, I have attended many championships across continents, but what happened here during the IDO European Ballet, Jazz, Modern & Contemporary Championships and the IDO World Disco Dance Championships was on a different level — in energy, execution, and emotion.
What set this event apart wasn’t just the dancers — though they were brilliant. It was the way the organizers turned a championship into a world-class experience. The stage design, with its massive LED setup, intelligent lights, and sleek production, gave dancers the feeling they were performing on a global television show. You could see it in their posture, in their smiles, in the way they took the floor — they felt seen, celebrated, and respected.
Every detail — from scheduling to sound, hospitality to flow — was carefully curated. But it wasn’t just about good logistics. There was heart behind every element. The incredible team from Poland leaded by the organizer Piotr Patlaszynski didn’t just host a competition; they created an experience. They believed in IDO and gave the dancers something to remember for life.
And all of it took place inside an impressive sports venue that matched the scale of our vision. Spacious, modern, and filled with a buzzing crowd that never lost energy, the venue became part of the atmosphere — helping turn a great event into a magical one.
We also witnessed important organizational milestones — including the election of a new Chairperson for IDO Europe, Sylwana Patlaszynska, whose passion and commitment will surely push our work even further.
But beyond the titles, results, and announcements, what stays with me is the feeling: of unity, of pride, of seeing IDO grow — not only as a dance organization but as a brand, a movement, and a home for dancers.
Together with the IDO World HipHop Championships 2024 in Skopje, this event should serve as a model for the future. It showed how, with the right people, the right vision, and the right energy, we can create championships that are not just professionally run, but unforgettable.
"Grodzisk Mazowiecki showed us that the future of dance in Europe is not only bright—it’s already happening.”
