IDO SPORTS DIRECTOR PROUD OF CONTINENT V CONTINENT PROJECT- PRESS RELEASE 105/2021
The International Dance Organization Vice President and Sports Director, Fiona Johnson is very proud of the IDO Continent versus Continent online competition, and the support received from 45 IDO National member organizations from all continents sending close to 3000 videos in 3 dance departments.
Looking back at everything the dance industry has had to endure due to Covid-19 and how far we have come by launching this most important ‘Restart Project’, Continent versus Continent. The original idea was from Bonnie Dyer. The IDO Sports Director immediately started working on this online competition and her responsibility was to make the project a reality.
IDO Vice-President and Sports Detector Fiona Johnson said:
‘The existing forms of online competitions did not follow the high ethical and moral standards that IDO holds in adjudication, so we had to start from scratch. In 3 months, all technical support in the form of a video-controlled platform with an enrolment system had been produced, together with the premiere of the IDO WEB TV.
We have seen 37 livestreamed online competitions. We solved every problem for the benefit of our dancers, and we have connected new dancers and countries to IDO. Thank you IDO National Members, their choreographers, coaches, dancers, IDO adjudicators, and everyone involved promoting the project. We have shown the support, loyalty and love for IDO!’
