COMMITTEE MEETINGS – JAZZ AND FLAMENCO DANCE- PRESS RELEASE 77/2021
IDO Committee Meetings have continued throughout the past month and the IDO Communications Department will keep you updated on all of these. Here are small reports on the two meetings:
Jazz Committee Meeting – held on the 6th April 2021
The meeting was conducted by Chairperson Mimi Marcac Mirceta from Slovenia. 38 delegates took part from 21 countries and 3 continents.
The meeting commenced with a short overview of the minutes of the last meeting and the Chairpersons report for 2020. Discussions included jazz dance throughout Covid, safety at IDO events and clarifications to the Jazz rules. A working group has been created and will include the PA Department Director and the Chairpersons for Jazz and Show Dance.
Flamenco Committee Meeting – held on the 23rd April 2021
The meeting was conducted by Chairperson Julia Plakhotina from Russia with 10 countries taking part. As part of her report, she explained the developments that had taken place in the last year and allowed participating countries to advise on the situation for this dance genre in the in countries.
The rules pertaining to this dance discipline proved to be part of most of the meeting’s agenda. As part of new business, a video will be created to explain the concept of Flamenco Fusion Improvisation.
