Celebrating International Dance Day

Every April 29th, communities across the globe join in commemorating International Dance Day, a moment to cherish the artistry, diversity, and cultural importance of dance. This worldwide celebration highlights the innate ability of movement to transcend boundaries and foster connections among people from all backgrounds. IDO President Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdic and IDO Senior Vice President Fiona Johnson convey their warm wishes for International Dance Day, underscoring the profound impact and unifying essence of dance.

"Dear dancers,
Today, millions of people all over the world are united around one common idea, and that is dance!
Dancing is a very popular, fun and accessible activity that appeals to all ages. Whether you are dance masters - virtuosos and top creators or just those who dance for fun, celebrate this special day together united in dance!
Leave all jobs and daily duties behind, step on the dance floor wherever you are and dance!
Happy International Dance Day!" Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdic - IDO President

"On this International Dance Day, let's come together to honour the profound significance of dance in our lives. Dance is more than just movement; it's a universal language that speaks to the depths of human emotion and experience. It has the power to bridge differences, fostering understanding and empathy between people of different backgrounds and cultures. As we celebrate today, let's recognize the beauty and diversity of dance forms around the world, and the passion and dedication of dancers everywhere who devote themselves to this art form. Through dance, we find joy, healing, and a sense of belonging. Let's dance with gratitude for the enriching tapestry of movement that unites us all."

Fiona Johnson
