IDO Vice President and Sports Director, Fiona Johnson has today announced the fourth of the VIP judges for the 6th edition of the IDO World Gala Event ‘Best of the Best’.

Award winning Choreographer, Debbie Rakusin from South Africa, has been invited as a VIP Judge. Over the years she has successfully explored the fusion of varied jazz, contemporary, African and tap styles. Taught at The Pretoria Technicon for 14 years in the Jazz and Tap department. Her Awards include: Standard Bank Young Artist Award, FNB Vita for Most Outstanding Choreographer, Breaking Barriers Award and Naledi Awards. Debbie has choreographed for major South African Musicals, her highlight being AFRICAN FOOTPRINT having run for 16 years worldwide.

Debbie is currently involved with the Corporate Market Producing choreographing and directing shows for all major Blue-Chip Companies. As well as Choreographing shows and beauty pageants, she has also choreographed many movies and countless TV Commercials. Debbie was a Judge in the first season of So You Think You Can Dance South Africa, has been on the panel of Judges for WTC Competitions in South Africa and was on the esteemed panel of judges for the Commonwealth Cup.

Debbie is Head Judge for WOD SA a brand that has recently been brought to South Africa. Debbie recently won The Best Choreography Award as well as The Highest Mark Award at the 2019 Commonwealth Cup International Dance Competition. She is the Co-Founder of HPDE, South Africa’s first High Performance Dance Education program, which aims to expand the Diversity, Knowledge and Professionalism of all Dancers. Debbie has recently been honoured and awarded her IDO International Judging License. She was also awarded one of the most prestigious awards in The Commonwealth Cup Competition 2019 held in South Africa, for The Best Choreography as well as the highest score in the entire competition.

She has built a reputation for being the leader in the Industry delivering the highest quality and setting standards across the board. She has pioneered and grown dancers from grassroots levels recognising raw talent and developing their skills enabling them to perform on a global platform. She has empowered dancers and encouraged them to share their knowledge throughout their communities. Her work ethos is based on honesty, professionalism, integrity, versatility and an enormous amount of passion.
