IDO Vice President and Sports Director, Fiona Johnson has today announced the third of the VIP judges for the 6th edition of the IDO World Gala Event ‘Best of the Best’.

Professional dancer, teacher and choreographer from Australia Barbara Warren-Smith has been invited as a VIP Judge. Barbara commenced her training at Ballet Guild. Over a period of twelve years study in classical ballet, Barbara won two scholarships and completed a six-year classical professional training course before deciding on a commercial dance career.

At the age of 17 she successfully auditioned for Channel 7 and so began a long career in television. During her performing career Barbara worked on all networks with a variety of talented choreographers and directors on many specials, miniseries, commercials, comedy sketches, fashion parades, and awards nights. She has worked with top Australian shows over several decades and established a career as a choreographer and worked at the Channel 9 studios for 8 years, staging and choreographing.

Barbara has worked with The Australian Girls Choir for 26 years, staged items at Disneyland Los Angeles and Disneyland Paris, St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, The Hanoi Opera House in Vietnam, as well as London and Thailand. She has worked all over the world, including Japan, Singapore and New Zealand. Barbara has been the Artistic Director for Dancesport Australia for 20 years. She also continues dance teaching at Glen Iris School of Dance. She was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for Service to the Performing Arts.
