DANCE COMMITTEE MEETINGS – ORIENTAL AND CONTEMPORARY- PRESS RELEASE 37/2022
IDO Dance Committee Meetings have been taking place throughout February and March. Here are the updates on the two committee meetings:
IDO Oriental Committee Meeting – Performing Arts Department – held on the 18th February 2022
The meeting was conducted by Chairperson Ekaterina Lutsko from Russia, with 10 National Member Organizations taking part, from 2 continents.
The meeting commenced with discussions on the new rules and proposals for Oriental. Working Groups to promote this dance genre was proposed as was a working group judges and choreographers. The latter was proposed to ensure the development of the specialist and officials and create a huge database for this department. Regular lectures in this discipline were also proposed with a recommendation sent to the IDO Education Department. The next meeting is scheduled for the autumn.
IDO Modern and Contemporary Committee Meeting – Performing Arts Department – held on the 26th February 2022
The meeting was conducted by Chairperson Mitja Popovski from Slovenia with 29 delegates from 21 countries and 4 continents present, including a Dancers Commission representative.
The atmosphere was very nice and friendly, but also constructive and productive. 4 proposals and rules were discussed, and a follow up meeting scheduled for the autumn of 2022. Mitja Popovski was re-elected as Chairperson in Modern and Contemporary Committee.
