AN IDO YEAR IN REVIEW! Part 2- Press Release 152/2020
The International Dance Organization’s year in 2020 second quarter saw a jam-packed online offering. Here are some highlights of IDO’s 2020 between April and June 2020:
The IDO Presidium meetings historically took place for the first time online via Zoom. The Presidium worked hard to ensure that all systems were ready to go once the universal social lock-down was lifted.
The IDO celebrated two major dance events. The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace with a special video promoting physical well-being, empowerment and equality. Secondly, World Dance Day striving to encourage participation and education in dance, but due to Covid-19 dancing in our own homes.
The IDO Education and IDO Public Relations Department produced 10 weeks of IDO Master Classes featuring professional dance teachers and choreographers from all around the globe, in various dance genres. The Master Classes aired on IDO Facebook daily and then archived on IDO YouTube.
IDO Vice President Fiona Johnson announced IDO was prompted to take exceptional measures and organise the IDO Gala World Event online with the grand final being a TV Studio super final like Eurovision. The IDO PR Department invited the IDO dance community to the first round of the IDO Gala Facebook Contest. Similarly, the Gala semi-final was conducted online via Facebook with the selection conducted by public vote and by five VIP adjudicators. Scrutineering the results was an independent panel led by IDO Senior Vice-President Prof. Dr Velibor Srdic in his capacity as Adjudication Director. 14 entries made it to the grand final!
We look forward tomorrow to Part 3 of our IDO Year in Review!
