Ask Mr. Rules Book

Can you enter another continent's Championship?

from Desiree (South Africa)

Desiree’s question:
Because we do not currently hold a continental championship for Africa, if a dancer were travelling to Europe for any other particular reason (for example gymnastics training camp) at the same time that there is a European Championship being held would our dancers be able to participate in an IDO European Championship Competition? In other words is it possible that you can enter a European Championship even if you are not from that continent?

Bill’s answer:
Non-European dancers are not permitted to compete in competitions designated as European Championships. However, it is possible if the organizer opens it to the world such as European Open or European Championship Open to the World.

All enrollments for IDO events must be made through your National IDO Member Organization, in your case The South African Dance Teacher Association, Stage Branch, headed by Beverly Wood.
